Project Overview

Laney Amplification is the signature of high-quality British guitar and bass amplifiers, supplying musicians worldwide from its West Midlands base. As the business expanded its fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles, Laney needed an EV charging solution that matched its reputation for performance, reliability and professional standards.

Pro EV was appointed to assess the existing setup and deliver a future-ready upgrade that would support daily operations and ongoing fleet growth.

The Challenge

Laney’s site already had Pod Point chargers in place, but the system was no longer fit for purpose. The chargers were slow, unreliable, and limited to a single power feed, effectively halving charging speeds whenever more than one vehicle was plugged in. This led to long charging times, reduced staff and visitor availability, and unnecessary operational inefficiency as the EV fleet continued to grow.

The Solution

Following a detailed site survey, Pro EV designed and delivered a high-performance charging upgrade tailored to Laney’s operational needs.

The solution included:

Installation of two Alfen Eve Pro Line 22kW dual-fed chargers
Four charging sockets, available for simultaneous use
Custom-built concrete bases to ensure long-term stability and a professional finish
A balanced power configuration allowing each vehicle to charge at full speed, even when multiple cars are connected

As David Struthers, Commercial Operations Manager at Pro EV, explained:

“The previous setup halved charging speeds when two cars were plugged in. With the new dual-fed system, each vehicle now charges at 22kW, cutting charging time in half.”
