EV Charging Point Installation for Leicestershire Police

Client
Leicestershire Police
Sector
Public Sector | Emergency Services
Project Duration
Four weeks
Locations
Five operational sites across Leicestershire
Project Overview
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and cost efficiency, Leicestershire Police began transitioning part of its operational fleet to electric vehicles. The initial phase saw the introduction of four EVs, with a clear strategy in place to expand the fleet further over time.
To support this move, the force required a reliable, future-ready EV fleet charging solution that could operate efficiently across multiple sites without disrupting critical day-to-day policing activity. Pro EV was appointed to design and deliver this charging infrastructure.

The Challenge
Delivering EV charging infrastructure in a live police environment came with several challenges. Seventeen charging points needed to be installed across five active sites, all while ensuring minimal disruption to frontline operations. The solution also had to be cost-effective, environmentally sustainable and scalable to support future fleet growth.
Reliability, safety and careful planning were essential, with no tolerance for downtime or operational interference.
Project Objectives
Leicestershire Police set out to reduce their carbon footprint by incorporating electric vehicles into their fleet and lowering long-term fuel and transportation costs. At the same time, the force needed to ensure that vehicles could be charged efficiently across multiple locations, creating a robust foundation for ongoing electrification.
The Solution
Pro EV worked closely with Leicestershire Police to design a fleet-ready charging solution tailored to their operational requirements. The project involved installing 17 Sevadis Maxi 22kW EV charging points across 5 sites, providing sufficient capacity for the current fleet while allowing for future expansion.
The Sevadis Maxi 22kW chargers were selected for their fast charging performance, reliability and ease of integration with existing electrical infrastructure. This ensured vehicles could be turned around quickly and kept operational when needed most.

Is it time to upgrade your home or business with on-site EV charging?
Technology and Innovation
Central to the solution was Pro EV’s Charge Point Management System (CPMS). This platform gives Leicestershire Police’s transport and estates teams real-time visibility of charging activity across all sites. By capturing detailed usage data, the system enables the force to monitor charging sessions, track energy consumption, evidence CO₂ savings and accurately forecast the ongoing cost of managing an electric fleet.
Combined with the high-output 22kW chargers, the CPMS provides both operational efficiency and long-term insight.
Project Delivery
The installation was delivered by Pro EV’s in-house commercial team, including fully trained, OZEV-accredited installers, on-site supervisors and Pro EV’s Head of Quality. The project was coordinated by the commercial project management team, ensuring work was completed safely, to specification and with minimal disruption.
Detailed planning and close coordination with local police units allowed installations to be phased carefully around operational requirements. This approach ensured that policing activity continued uninterrupted throughout the project.

Overcoming Operational Challenges
Working within live police environments required a high level of organisation and communication. Pro EV carried out detailed pre-installation surveys and scheduled works to avoid peak operational periods. Regular communication with site stakeholders ensured everyone was informed at each stage, while strict site controls maintained safety and security throughout.
The Outcome
The completed installation provides Leicestershire Police with a robust, efficient and cost-effective EV charging infrastructure. The solution supports the current electric fleet while providing a scalable platform for future expansion as more electric vehicles are introduced.
In addition to supporting sustainability targets, the charging infrastructure enables improved fleet management through real-time monitoring and reporting, giving the force greater control over energy usage and operational costs.
What Made the Project a Success
Our experienced, local and OZEV-accredited installers were key to delivering a smooth and compliant installation. This was supported by a dedicated project team who maintained high standards throughout and a strong emphasis on planning and preparation to minimise disruption across all sites.
Client Feedback
Tom Coar, Electrical Services Manager, Leicestershire Police, commented:
“We recently had 17 EV chargers installed across our estate by Pro EV as an initial trial as we start adopting EVs as part of our fleet. The team was professional, punctual and extremely knowledgeable.
The installation process was smooth and efficient, with minimal disruption throughout. The final installation was secure, clean and clearly carried out to a high standard.
Communication throughout the project was excellent – from pre-start to completion, Pro EV showed a high level of professionalism. We’d highly recommend Pro EV to anyone looking for a trustworthy and skilled EV charging provider.”
Summary
Pro EV successfully delivered a fleet-ready EV charging solution for Leicestershire Police, installing seventeen Sevadis Maxi 22kW chargers across five locations within a four-week timeframe. The project has reduced emissions, lowered transport costs and laid the groundwork for ongoing fleet electrification.
With scalable infrastructure and full visibility through Pro EV’s CPMS, Leicestershire Police are now well-positioned to continue expanding their electric fleet and progress towards long-term sustainability goals with confidence.
