20th century Hotel and Spa improves guest experience and hotel sustainability commitments with Electric Car Charging ports from Pro EV.

[November 2024] Lythe Hill, the 20th century Hotel and spa boasts 60 en suite bedrooms, including several suites and pride themselves on warm and welcoming hospitality. Set in 22 acres of woodland in the Sussex countryside, Lythe Hill is miles out from the central town and wanted to provide their hotel guests and spa day visitors with the facilities to charge their electric cars whilst on site.

Lythe Hill Hotel and Spa, General Manager said: “We were crying out for EV charging and wanted to cater to a wider guest audience. Pro EV support was just what we needed.”

Following a site inspection, Pro EV advised Lythe Hill to install 2 x 7kw slow EV chargers for overnight guests and 2 x 22kw rapid EV chargers for shorter stay visitors, e.g conference, private function or day spa visitors.

The whole project was easy to manage from the install to groundworks. Pro EV were super easy to deal with and the pricing was great value for money”. Said James Smith, General Manager, Lythe Hill Hotel and Spa.

The hotel can better manage the different charging sessions through Pro EV’s leading back-office management system, Pro EV Link. This system enables the hotel to apply different charging tariffs for hotel staff, overnight and day guests.

Pro EV Commercial Operations Manager, David Struthers said “Pro EV Link offers a full reporting suite, which highlights the times/day when the chargers are used more, how long each session lasts, and the revenue generated per session / day / week or month.”

Since June 2024, the electric car chargers have generated £10,869 in additional revenue for Lythe Hill Hotel and Spa. The average session is £29.58, across 369 sessions, with 54 unique drivers (clearly showing repeat usage).

The revenue we have generated is much better than we expected, and the guests are happier. We are also improving our sustainability commitments” said James Smith, Lythe Hill General Manager.

Lythe Hill Hotel and Spa is committed to increasing the environmental sustainability of its current operations. This involves integrating sustainable measures into its business model and looking after the planet the same way they look after guests. Installing electric car charging ports was part of the hotel and spa sustainability movement and since the EV charger installation, the chargers have resulted in 7200kg C02 saving, which equates to 38,000 miles of EV driving.
